A Lively Lunchtime Concert

On Wednesday 10th Feb: at 1pm in the Beaulieu Abbey Church, 20 singers from Ocean Harmony, the popular Southampton based four part harmony Barbershop Chorus, will be performing a selection of favourite songs and ballads from their extensive repertoire to help raise urgently needed funds for the extensive restoration and rebuild of the historic Beaulieu Abbey Church Organ.

This precious Victorian instrument was built in 1858 and rebuilt and extended in 1893. Since installation, the organ has been in weekly use for all services and Abbey celebrations and in regular use for recitals and practice by students. Now 30 years since the last service, extensive and expensive restoration work is required.

We wish to extend a warm welcome to all who would enjoy this concert and to all members of the Abbeys regular congregation as well as anyone who has enjoyed the organ recitals over the past years.

This promises to be a lively and very enjoyable concert and in addition to the range of songs, there will also be an opportunity to enjoy the mellifluous voices of the Drastic Measures Quartet. Ocean Harmony will also give a demonstration of how the four harmony parts are blended together to achieve the overall harmony sound.

Entrance to the concert is free, but you are invited to make a donation to the Organ Restoration Fund. We look forward to seeing you on the 10th of February.
