Radio Stars!

Ocean Harmony opened its doors to potential new members with the welcome support of BBC Radio Solent.

The popular local broadcaster helped the Southampton and New Forest barbershop chorus offer free singing lessons for men as it looks to boost its 50-strong successful a cappella choir.

A quartet made up of the section leaders, gave a stella performance of "Can you feel the love tonight?" from Disney's Lion King.

BBC Radio Solent presenter, Alun Newman sparked an informative interview with John Yapp, OH Chairman, and Paula Taylor - Williams, Exec, Chorus Director ( of whom he commented brought a sparkle to proceedings). Asking about the upcoming Learn to Sing Course, Alun Newman expertly sold the idea as a positive endeavour for men to be involved with.

Section Leaders, Dudley Stone (Leads), Mick Hill (Tenor), John Masters (Baritone) and Dave Pucher (Bass) provided a symphonic rendition of "Can you feel the love tonight?" in a live studio environment, which was a chorus first and according to programme producers created a lot of positive feedback to the station.

Our Next Learn to Sing Starts on Wednesday 16th October 2019 at 19:15.

Ocean Harmony welcomes new members at any time through out the year. So if your not available for the free course come along to Colbury Memorial Hall any Wednesday evening at 19:30 and you will receive a very warm welcome.

See you there......
