Riding for the Disabled is a wonderful local charity which has been enabling life-changing activities for more than 40 years by making available equestrian activities to all age groups of people with disabilities.
Ocean Harmony, the Southampton based Barbershop Chorus recently staged a concert to raise funds for Riding for the Disabled and our picture shows the Ocean Harmony Chairman, Dudley Stone, presenting a cheque for 500 to Midge and John Hargreaves.
Riding for the Disabled takes great pride in the exceptional standard of their 30 well qualified instructors and volunteers. Together they provide expert instruction in sessions for up to 10 disabled children at their indoor equestrian centre in Brockenhurst and for adults at the Amiss Equestrian centre in Fordingbridge. Another great attraction for the children is that they are encouraged to become involved with grooming and general stable activities for the ponies at the centre.
After a period of riding instruction and stable activities, the young riders are always very proud to receive a certificate.
